What is "System Data"? It's macOS's catch-all bucket for everything that isn't an app, photo, document or media file:
app caches, app support data, chat media, plugins and sound libraries, logs, old installers and macOS itself.
Only part of it is yours to clean. This tab lists the biggest folders and labels each one Safe,
Careful or Leave alone, so you can see what adds up to the number in Storage settings.
Your Desktop and Music files are not System Data — use the Big files tab for those.
